Filtering Overview

This topic applies to both ViPNet Coordinator and ViPNet Client.

You need filters to block or pass IP packets depending on the protocol, protocol parameters and the IP address.

In the tree structure, filters are shown separately for the private and public networks. This structure allows you to create a filter for a single IP address as well as define a range of addresses (first layer). Afterwards, filters according to protocols, direction and port numbers can be defined (second layer).

Filters for open traffic (in the Public Network section) are created for each network adapter separately.

When setting up access policies, a security level has to be defined for each network adapter. Afterwards, you can specify filters to gain more control over the security level.

There are four pre-defined filters for the private and public networks. These filters can be modified but cannot be deleted:
