• How to install ViPNet Custom?

To install ViPNet CUSTOM you should install its 3 main components - ViPNet Administrator, ViPNet Coordinator and ViPNet Client. You should start with ViPNet Administrator installation. After the launch of the setup file, the Welcome window will appear. Click Next and follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard. After you install ViPNet Administrator you need to restart your computer, and then create a ViPNet structure in NCC, generate the distributed key files and corresponding passwords in KC, and then install and configure ViPNet Coordinator. The last step will be installing and configuring ViPNet Client. You can install ViPNet Coordinator either by downloading the according setup.exe file from the Infotecs online shop or from a ViPNet-CD. After you start the setup.exe file or put in ViPNet-CD the Welcome window will appear. Click Next and follow the instruction of the installation wizard. To complete the installation process you may choose one of the three methods:
1) The most handy way is to launch the *.dst file (supplied by your VPN administrator) first and then restart your computer. ViPNet Coordinator Invitation window will appear and you will be offered to enter the password. Once the password is entered and verified, you will see the welcome screen and then the Monitor program’s set of windows.

2) Second way is to restart your computer, but when the Invitation window will offer you tho enter the password, click Cancel and then OK. Launch the *.dst file, supplied by your VPN administrator, from any location on your computer. Then start ViPNet Coordinator by clicking on the ViPNet Coordinator icon on your desktop or by launching monitor.exe file. ViPNet Coordinator Invitation window will appear and you will be offered to enter the password. Once the password is entered and verified, you will see the welcome screen and then the Monitor program’s set of windows.

3) The third way is to restart your computer. After that the ViPNet Coordinator Invitation window will appear: enter the password, insert the diskette with your personal *.dst file, supplied by your VPN administrator, then click OK. During the first launch, once you have entered the password, if the personal key information (KD) is stored on neither a diskette nor in the destination folder, use the Browse button to locate it. The program will search that data in all subfolders of a selected folder. Once the password is verified, you will see the welcome screen and then the Monitor program’s set of windows.

After you install ViPNet Coordinator you may have to change some settings so that ViPNet Coordinator could function properly.

You can install ViPNet TUNNEL either by downloading the according package from the Infotecs online shop or from a ViPNet-CD After you start the setup.exe file or put in ViPNet-CD the Welcome window will appear. From this window you can start the ViPNet Coordinator installation. Click Next and follow the instruction of the installation wizard. After you install ViPNet Coordinator you should configure it to function as Tunnel Server.

You can install ViPNet OFFICE either by downloading the according package from the Infotecs online shop or from a ViPNet-CD. If you download the software package from the online shop, you will have to start the ViPNet_office.exe file and INFOTECS Installation Kit Setup window will appear. If you use a ViPNet-CD, you should put it in, the INFOTECS Installation Kit Setup window will appear afterwards. You can start the installation of three modules from this menu. You will be suggested to choose a directory where all three modules (Manager, Coordinator and Client) are installed into. Click Install and the INFOTECS Installation kit window will appear. From this window you can start the ViPNet Manager installation. After the launch of the setup file, the Welcome window will appear. Click Next and follow the instruction of the installation wizard. After you install ViPNet Manager you need to create a ViPNet structure, generate the distributed key files and corresponding passwords, and then install and configure ViPNet Coordinator. The last step will be installing and configuring ViPNet Client.
Note: your demo version of ViPNet OFFICE will expire in 45 days in case you don’t register it.

During Tunneling encryption is used not between the information Source and Recipient, but between the boundary elements such as Firewalls, for example, behind which the Source and Recipient are located. The below picture illustrates the scheme (“S” stands for the information Source, “R” – for the Recipient, and “T” – for the boundary element):

"=" means encrypted traffic, "-" – not encrypted traffic. This is how the so called Tunnel is organized. It is evident, that uncontrolled could be only “=” channel. Open channel “-” must be under your full control, otherwise the whole idea of such defense ruins.
On the other hand, ViPNet OFFICE provides traffic encryption on the entire data path. The scheme to this solution can be represented like that:

The difference between ViPNet Client and ViPNet Coordinator is in the functionality of these products. ViPNet Client is usually installed on a regular workstations, while Coordinator is assigned to fulfill server functions.

To uninstall ViPNet software you have to start the same setup.exe file, which you used for the installation of the product. The installation Wizard window will appear and you will be offered to uninstall the software. Click Next and follow the instructions. After the software is uninstalled you will have to restart your computer.
The other way is to use Control Panel: Start->Settings->Control Panel-> Add and Remove Program. Choose the name of the program you want to uninstall and click Remove. The wizard window will appear. Confirm the removal and click Next. After the software is uninstalled you will have to restart your computer.
