The support of OS Windows NT4 stops.
Infotecs Company announces today the changes in technical support terms regarding its already released products and the changes in operating systems specification that will be supported by newly released software:
1) Starting with October 1, 2006 the support of OS Windows NT4 stops for all the new versions of ViPNet 3.x series;
2) Starting with March 1, 2007 the support of OS Windows NT4 stops for all the new versions of ViPNet 2.x series;

ViPNet Safe Disk version 2.9 (4.1404) advantages and main features:
- The possibility of containers auto-mounting after launching Safe Disk program;

This file can become necessary in the case of program reinstallation (for example, in the case of reinstallation the program in a different folder, or after the formatting of a disk, where Safe Disk was installed). Information on registration data (serial number, computer code, registration code etc.) is also registered in a Registration log - reginfo.txt file. The information in this file can be used for a manual program registration after its reinstallation (in the case of sd.brg file loss).
- AES algorithm is now supported by Safe Disk program.
- Containers, created by ViPNet Safe Disk on your PC, can be copy or move on your PDA and then move back. To do so a special program has to be installed on PDA - ViPNet Safe Disk Mobile.
- iKey 3000 support is added for the protection key storage.
- The interface of Container Export Window is changed, the User guide for Safe Disk program is also completed (chapters "Creation (recovery) of containers' backup copies (Container's export and import)") for the user's better understanding of the process of containers' backup copies creation (recovery) with the help of export/import procedures.
- Spanish localization of Safe Disk is actualized.
- Some minor bugs are corrected.
ViPNet Safe Disk Mobile version 1.1 (0.1409) (released on 06.12.2005) advantages and main features:
- Installation Wizard for ViPNet Safe Disk Mobile is completed and improved.

Important remarks on ViPNet Safe Disk utilization:

Program packet ViPNet Safe Disk, beginning with version 2.9 (2.1168), has a different container format, that is why after the installation of version 2.9 (2.1168) and higher, during the mounting of container which was created in previous versions (also during importing), the container is converted in a different format. After such transformation it is impossible to:
- import the container (if you have made the backup copy earlier, i.e. made an export). It is recommended to make an export once again;
- work with container, if you install any version of Safe Disk, lower than 2.9 (2.1168), again.
Containers, created by Safe Disk on the Personal Computer, could be transported on PDA and then transported back. To do so, ViPNet Safe Disk Mobile should be installed on your PDA. Such compatibility of containers was achieved between Safe Disk and Safe Disk Mobile, beginning with versions 2.9 (2.1168) for Safe Disk and 1.0 (0.1173) for Safe Disk Mobile.

"Medikonet" goes online
The first participants of "Medikonet", a joint project of Mediko GmbH Germany (pharmaceutical distribution and healthcare consulting services) and Infotecs, have gone online with the beginning of this year. The aim is to provide a safe communication network based of Infotecs VPN-technology between doctors, laboratories, hospitals and other healthcare institutions. Germany has a very tight Federal Data Protection legislative restricting communication using sensitive patients data over public networks. The pilot project "Medikonet" will provide the necessary experience for projects in the filed of healthcare on a larger scale.

Gartner
recommends installing personal firewalls.
The Gartner consultancy has recommended the installation of
personal firewalls, at least, across all corporate laptops and
ideally all desktops as well. Gartner's recommendation, reported
by TechWeb, responds to the growing number of vulnerabilities
in Windows operating systems. This means that companies constantly
have to apply the patches released to workstations and laptops
in particular.
Gartner has also brought attention to the delay in applying
these patches. On average, companies take from between six and
18 months to apply patches after they are released and for this
reason, corporate computers are continuously running unnecessarily
high risks. Gartner believes that installing personal firewalls,
firstly in laptops and then desktops, should be a priority for
companies to reduce unlimited exposure to the Internet and prevent
unauthorized running of executable files Internet.
