ViPNet Features/Applications:
Main Screen:
This screen is the control center of the VPN client.
All configurations are made here, all applications
are started from here. The screen is partitioned
into three areas: In the upper area you will find
the standard drop-down menus and the smart icons
(for the most actions a simple right click in the
right area will do the job). In the right half you
can see the list of connected VPN-users. These can
be rearranged into user groups with own folders
and can be renamed. The IP-adresses are shown, they
are hilighted when they are online. The contents
of this frame changes when you choose a menu from
the left half of the main screen. On the far left
side you can comfortably change the ViPNet functions
and settings.
Chat:
The chat screen
is divided into 3 windows. The first one
from the top is the information window,
which shows the information with whom you
connected and who has received your message.
The letters "S,
D,
R"
have the following meanings:
S
means that a chat message has been sent
D
means that a chat message has been delivered
and displayed on the recipient's screen
R
means that a chat message has been read
Experience has shown that the chat function
immensely reduces the amount of phone calls
and if you do make a call you can make
sure by chat that your correspondent is
actually available and not in a meeting
or otherwise engaged.
Users can easily chat with one another in a real-time
online setting (instant messaging). In combination
with the main screen, you are always aware of a
VPN user online. The immediate chat message, delivered
within a second or two, saves a phone call. No browser
has to be opened and you can copy other VPN users
on this chat or even conduct a chat conference.
"Can you send me the link over ?" - copy,
paste, send, done!
Web-Link:
The Web-Link function can be used for quick and
secure connection to a web server or web address
by adding this address to the Client list. By not
having this address available in the public domain,
a secure intranet or extranet can be easily created.
Business Mail:
The
Business Mail window is similar to current
email browser interfaces. In the left part
you can find the usual email folders in
the right part the received mails. The difference
to familiar email programs is the fact that
every information and attachement has been
encrypted and will only be decrypted when
you, the authorized recipient, have opened
the mail by a simple double-click. The decryption
process is automated. The sender furthermore
automatically receives the exact information
when his email was read and the attachement
opened.
Comparabel to a registered letter only to
the VPN connected workstations can exchange
the information and are authorized by a
secure automatic exchange of digital keys.
The question: "Have you read my report,
enquiry etc. yet ." is superfluous.
In the field "Attributes", you
can see following indicators:
E mail has been encrypted
S mail has been signed digitally
P mail is ready to be sent (packed)
W mail has been sent, but not delivered
(w ent) possibly the workstation of the
recipient is turned off
D mail has been d elivered on the recipients
screen
R mail has been r ead on the recipients
workstation
The
interface shows you the exact time and date

File Exchange:
This application is used to send files with a large
amount of data. A simple right click on the file
you want to send ("Send file to ViPNet user"),
choose the recipient and press "send".
The file is automatically packed and encrypted.
You will receive an automated message when the recipient
has received the file. Should the connection be
interrupted during the transmission, the process
will be resumes automatically and the data checked
for completeness. All files sent through file exchange
are archived in separate folders sorted by users.
MFTP:
The MFTP (Monitor File Transfer Process) function
provides information on the delivery status of application
files such as Business Mail and File Exchange. MFTP
can be useful when trying to determine the data
transfer status for large files and troubleshooting
transfer errors. The Settings, Queue, and Log Files
are available from the MFTP Interface..
