HARTING and Infotecs will present a secure e-mobility solution at HANNOVER MESSE

Berlin/Hannover, March 28, 2018 – Infotecs, the cybersecurity and threat intelligence firm, will be presenting its e charger security solution based on the MICA® platform from April 23 to April 27, 2018 at the HANNOVER MESSE. The German government is requiring 35,000 charging points for electric vehicles, as this is the only way to reach the goal of one million electric cars on the streets in Germany by 2020.

Meet Infotecs at Hannover Messe in hall 11, stand C15The user data and charging process data transferred by the charging infrastructure for electric cars have become an attractive target for cyber attacks. Infotecs will present its encryption solution for charging station communications based on the MICA platform by the HARTING Technology Group. With its military-grade software-defined VPN technology, Infotecs software will secure the entire communication process between back-end systems (e.g. with billing providers) and electric vehicles. This protects against unauthorized interception or manipulation of data traffic.

With MICA Edge Computing Systems by HARTING, data are transmitted from a Smart Meter, which is integrated into a charging point and charging controller to the ViPNet encryption module that securely transfers the data to the provider’s back-end systems to calculate the exact usage and issue a charging authorization.

"More than 80,000 cyber-attacks that occur daily around the world show that cybercriminals have discovered critical infrastructures as a profitable target. Operators of e-charger infrastructures need to protect their systems from such attacks in order not to become an easy target of criminal extortionists", explains Josef Waclaw, CEO of Infotecs GmbH. "Many years of industrial competence implemented by HARTING in the MICA platform convinced us as a security provider to offer our software on this platform and join the MICA partner network."

With more than 5,000 international participants and over 200,000 visitors a year, HANNOVER MESSE is considered the world's leading fair in the industry. The five main fairs, Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives, Digital Factory, Energy, Industrial Supply, and Research & Technology, cover all topics on industrial value chains at the same location – from specific components to the intelligent factory and current trends such as energy efficiency. Infotecs will be presenting its security solutions in hall 11, stand C15 of HARTING Deutschland.
